Student Development Personnel
Ryan Guffey, PhD, Vice President for Student Development & Global Affairs (ext. 4475), is responsible for overseeing Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Cafeteria Services, Campus Mail, Career Development, the Dean of Students Office, English as a Second Language, Housing, Greek Life, International Students & Scholars, Intramurals, Security and Public Safety, Student Government, Student Involvement, and Student Life Sports, Switchboard, Wellness Center (Health and Counseling), in addition to the university’s international affairs. He serves as the chief student development administrator and a liaison for student needs on the President’s Cabinet. His office is located on the 4th floor of the Spellmann Center in the Student Development Suite.
John Bowman, BA, Director of Public Safety & Security (ext. 4687), oversees campus safety and security for all Lindenwood sites. The department is staffed by public safety officers 24/7 to facilitate a safe and inviting learning environment. Alongside the Dean of Students, he is also involved with campus disciplinary matters. His office is located at the corner of Kingshighway and Jefferson at 110 S. Kingshighway.
Michael Elam, BA, Director of Student Life Sports & Competitive Programs (SLS) (ext. 2263), is responsible for overseeing of M/W Billiards, M/W Bowling, M/W Cheerleading, M/W Chess, M/W Cycling, Competitive Dance, Men’s Ice Hockey, M/W Olympic Weightlifting, Men’s Roller Hockey, M/W Rugby, M/W Shotgun Sports, Speech and Debate, Synchronized Skating, Synchronized Swimming, M/W Table Tennis, M/W Water Polo, and Women’s Wrestling. He promotes academic and athletic success through budgetary, travel, eligibility, facility, and operational support. His office is located on the second floor of the Hyland Arena, room 218.
Emin Hajiyev, MBA, Director, Office of International Students & Scholars (ext. 4982), oversees the recruitment, visa obtainment, and support services for the international student body. He furthers campus diversity by facilitating the recruitment of students from over 91 countries. His office is located on the 4th floor of the Spellmann Center.
Angela Royal, MS, Director, Office of Student Involvement (ext. 4983), facilitates campus activities via the scheduling of all on campus student activities, coordination of student organizations and the maintaining of both student facilities, the Loft and Evans Commons. Her office is located on the 2nd floor of The Evans Commons.
Terry Russell, EdD, Director of Residential Life (ext. 4980), works closely with the resident life and maintenance staff to create a positive interactive environment for the students in Lindenwood residences. He is responsible for all new and returning housing assignments on campus. His office is located on the 4th floor of the Spellmann Center in the Student Development Suite.
Michael Tolman, MS, MBA, Coordinator, Campus Services (ext. 4563), is responsible for coordinating campus services that involve outside venders (laundry, drinks, and snacks), the campus mailroom, and switchboard operations. His office is located on the fourth floor of the Spellmann Center in the Student Development Suite.
Shane Williamson, EdD, Dean of Students (ext. 4728), is responsible for enforcing policies within the Student Handbook and overseeing adjudication matters for the St. Charles campus and extension sites. She seeks to foster positive campus associations through the promotion of safe and appropriate student interaction. In addition, she supervises the offices of Career Development, Student Involvement, Greek Life, Intramurals, Mail and Switchboard Services, and Wellness Center. Her office is located on the 4th floor of the Spellmann Center in the Student Development Suite.
Dana Wehrli, MS, Director of Career Development (ext. 4806), assists with career exploration, the community work service program and employment recruitment fairs. She works closely with students to help them prepare resumes, job interview skills and personal presentation for future job opportunities. The Career Center is located in room 3175 of the Spellmann Center.
