Cisco Clean Access - Version 4.1.2.1

Cisco Clean Access and the Dorm Network

Clean Access is one of several components of the network designed to keep Lindenwood University computer users safe from malware, viruses, worms, hackers, and other forms of attack.

Nearly all network outages experienced in the dorm network are the result of virus-infected or severely compromised student PCs accessing the network. As a result, it has become necessary for the University to implement a network security system in order to minimize the risk posed by students who connect infected PCs to the campus network.

What Clean Access does not do:
Cisco Clean Access only ensures your computer is not vulnerable to risks and viruses by checking for holes, looking for system patches and validating anti-virus installations.

  • Clean Access does NOT scan for viruses on your computer – it makes sure you have software installed that can scan for viruses.
  • Clean Access does NOT access files on your computer or network share.
  • Clean Access does NOT watch where you surf or track who you email.
  • Clean Access does NOT give anyone the ability to “watch” the activities on your computer.

    Validation Checks:
    • Missing Microsoft Critical Updates (Mandatory)
    • Automatic update enabled with Download Option (Mandatory)
    • AntiVirus Software Installed (Mandatory)
    • Detection of peer to peer networking software (Mandatory)
    • Unsupported Operating System Detected (Mandatory)
