Baseball and Rugby Teams Honored at One Main Awards

Lindenwood Athletics were on center stage at the Sixth Annual One Main Awards. Hosted by the St. Charles Main Street Foundation, the One Main Awards recognize organizations and individuals who make an impact on the community. Lindenwood’s baseball and men’s rugby teams each took home Organization Awards.

Lindenwood’s baseball team was awarded an Organization Award for their participation in the St. Charles Pumpkin Glow, an October tradition that lines Main Street with Halloween decorations. Lindenwood men’s rugby received an Organization Award, commending the team’s volunteer work at the Main Street Supper Club in September.

The awards recognize the University’s commitment to the St. Charles Community. The efforts of Lindenwood Athletics further connect the University to the community while serving the area’s favorite annual traditions. This works comes through Destination Lindenwood, an initiative of the University’s strategic plan, which seeks to transform St. Charles into a welcoming and engaging college town.

Director of Destination Lindenwood Don Rothermich spoke on the significance of the student athletes’ community work. “It does not go unnoticed when our students are active. Their work helps everybody at the University feel a sense of belonging in a thriving, welcoming community,” Rothermich said. “Our athletes should be proud to be recognized for their service. They work very hard on the field and in the classroom. To contribute at the Pumpkin Glow and Supper Club shows exactly how our students have found a home in St. Charles that they want to be involved in."
