One of the best parts of working hard is the satisfaction of doing a good job. What is even more satisfying is being recognized for that hard work. It is this special kind recognition that Dr. Shenika Harris received from President Porter in the most recent Town Hall meeting. In the meeting Dr. Harris was recognized to be, as stated by President Porter, “… an Ideal Team Player due to a willingness to contribute to significant initiatives across the university and the ability to effectively work with others.”
There is no surprise why Dr. Harris was recognized for her efforts. The initiatives that she is a part of include being a Co-Leader of HLC Action Team 1—Mission, a University Committee on Accreditation member, a Strategic Planning Committee member, a Faculty Development and Retention Team member, as well as a Teaching Consultant for the Lindenwood Learning Academy. Each of these initiatives play a meaningful role in continuing the Academic Success of Lindenwood University.
Dr. Harris is a key figure in each of her respective roles. Some of the goals of these initiatives include aspects such as ensuring that Lindenwood will have a successful Comprehensive Evaluation and Reaffirmation of Accreditation (HLC Action Team 1—Mission), as well as analyzing and refreshing the Faculty Performance Evaluation (Faculty Development and Retention Team (FDRT)). The dedication that Dr. Harris has is also exemplified through her work as a teaching consultant, helping to ensure the success of online and hybrid courses campus wide.
When asked what this recognition meant to her, Dr. Harris said, “This recognition means a great deal to me. I think we all agree that it is very rewarding and uplifting to be recognized for your efforts. More importantly, I am happy to know that my work with various initiatives is contributing to the greater good of Lindenwood. I look forward to contributing to Lindenwood in any way that I can.” Such contributions are what make Lindenwood the perfect place for fostering Academic Success. Dr. Harris’ work ethic and accomplishments set a standard for what it means to be a successful member of the Lindenwood Community.
