Judge Ginsburg Visits Lindenwood’s Hammond Institute

In mid-September, U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg held a discussion at the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise as part of the H.F. Langenberg Memorial Speaker Series.

Since 2017, the H.F. Langenberg Speaker Series has continued to bring notable intellectuals to the St. Louis region to engage community members in civil discussion and debate about various philosophy, political economy, and economic issues.

Director of the Hammond Institute’s Center for Applied Economics Howard Wall moderated the discussion with Judge Ginsburg. The discussion focused on the Constitution as a foundational document, highlighting recent Supreme Court decisions, how these decisions impact civil liberties, and answering questions from participants.

Events like the Judge Ginsburg visit offered Lindenwood students the chance to immerse themselves in the first-hand knowledge of a government professional. They will then carry those experiences into the real world.

"Gaining access to a U.S. federal judge's insight on the relevancy of the U.S. Constitution and finding out he uses it to directly rule over cases are extremely valuable,” Lindenwood student Nicholas Heye said. “This experience will help me with my law school applications. Plus, it complements the reported history shared by instructors and exercises we do in class."
