LindenGiving Donates to Five Acres Animal Shelter

Lindenwood’s community outreach endeavor, LindenGiving, partnered with Five Acres Animal Shelter for the February initiative. Led by Beverly Porter, LindenGiving strives to give back to the local St. Charles community in immediate and impactful ways.

Throughout February, Lindenwood invited employees, students, alumni, and friends to support the shelter in several ways, including contributions towards veterinary care for animals, donating items of need, or volunteering time at the shelter.

The Psychology Interest Club held a Cause for Paws event on campus and made toys to donate to the dogs and cats at the shelter, in conjunction with the LindenGiving initiative.

Porter delivered the items and presented a check to Five Acres Animal Shelter, where many Lindenwood employees and students currently volunteer. “Although community service is nothing new for Lindenwood University, it's exciting to bring additional structure and focus to such an important value of the university through LindenGiving,” she shared. “Our first 2021 event for Five Acres Animal Shelter was a huge success due to the Lindenwood community's generosity and concern for animals. After presenting the donations to Five Acres, I had the honor of touring the facilities. It was quickly evident that the staff develop excellent, tailored care plans for each animal and maintain clean and friendly facilities. Five Acres truly supplies a great temporary home for animals in need and provides a great resource to the St. Charles area.”

LindenGiving, in its inaugural year, aims to directly support the needs of the St. Charles community and partners with nonprofit organizations to direct efforts. The LindenGiving committee is in the planning process for the next initiative, which will take place in late spring or early summer.
