Lindenwood University's community outreach endeavor, LindenGiving, hosted a heartwarming Valentine's Day party at Cedarhurst Senior Living. The event reaffirms Lindenwood's commitment to be a positive force in the St. Charles community through serving its neighbors.
LindenGiving has partnered with Cedarhurst since 2022. In what has become an annual tradition, Lindenwood students made Valentine's Day cards for Cedarhurst's residents. The cards were then presented to the residents with sweets and a special performance from Lindenwood's acapella group, Voices Only.
LindenGiving Chair Beverley Porter shared the quote, "a good neighbor is someone who makes your days brighter by spreading kindness and making you feel valued." This idea of being a good neighbor, Porter continued, was exactly LindenGiving's desire.
Porter also spoke on what the event means to the Cedarhurst community. "This day can be a difficult reminder to many residents of the spouse or loved one that has already passed on. Through the distribution of cards handmade by Lindenwood students, the sharing of gifts and sweets served by students, and the performance of beautiful music by Voices Only acapella group, our wish was to bring joy, love, kindness, camaraderie, and new memories to our neighbors at Cedarhurst," Porter said.
Since it was established in 2020, LindenGiving has partnered with 13 different organizations in St. Charles to serve the most essential needs of the community.
