Spring 2021 Academic Calendar
The spring academic calendar is being adjusted and classes will begin on Tuesday, January 19. This pushes back the start of the spring semester by one week. Spring break has been eliminated from the calendar to reduce travel away from campus. There will be no classes on Good Friday, April 2. The semester will conclude as scheduled on May 7. A decision about spring commencement will be made March 1.
Class Format
The first two weeks of lecture courses for Spring 2021 semester will be conducted in a virtual format. Labs, studio courses, and other experiential courses may require in-person attendance. Faculty will communicate with students in advance about the specifics of class delivery. Many courses will be offered in a hybrid format for the spring semester, in which a portion of the enrolled students attend each class meeting and the rest participate virtually from their residence. Rotations will be determined by faculty based on classroom capacity for each course. Any student wishing to complete a hybrid class entirely online will be able to. Select courses require in-person participation such as performance studio classes (e.g. dance, theater, choir) and certain practical and laboratory classes (e.g., analytical chemistry lab or paramedicine practicums). These courses will continue to meet in-person with additional precautions to decrease risk.
Class Schedules
In advance of Spring 2021 course registration, schedules have been adjusted to support Lindenwood’s safety policies.
Academic Advising
Students should plan to conduct most meetings with academic advisors and faculty members virtually. Faculty will not be required to hold in-person office hours during the semester.
Housing
Students who have elected to live on campus who have registered for a housing assignment will have the opportunity. Lindenwood will continue to enforce a visitation policy in all residential buildings, limiting students to one Lindenwood University student visitor. Guests from outside the university will not be permitted.
Lindenwood has reviewed the residential requirement status for Spring 2021 and will not approve requests to move off-campus for the spring term.
Move-In
Move-in for Spring 2020 will begin on Friday, January 15 so students can return to their residential buildings in advance of classes starting. All students returning for spring semester can leave their belongings in their residential assignment over the break. Students will be contacted by Student Life to sign up for a time to move into their residential building.
Health and Wellness
Lindenwood strives to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.
- Masks must be worn at all times while on campus.
- Maintain physical distancing of no less than 6ft.
- Use the designated entrance or exit doors to access buildings.
Hand sanitizer will be widely available on campus.
