The College of Science, Technology, and Health welcomes several new faculty members across disciplines for the 2024-25 academic year. With a wide range of expertise, these individuals will promote innovation and program growth in key areas.
Weston Anderson, PhD
From Las Vegas, Nv., Anderson joins the Lindenwood criminal justice and criminology program.
“I have always had a passion to teach others and Lindenwood University provides just that,” Anderson said. “With the ability to know the students and work with them to prepare for their goals, I couldn't ask for a better place. For me it all started with a caring professor who guided me along my academic journey, and I hope to continue that at Lindenwood University.”
Anderson holds a bachelor’s in sociology from Utah State University, a master’s in criminal justice from Weber State University, and a PhD in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville.
Sydney K. Greenwalt, PhD
Joining Lindenwood’s psychology program is Sydney K. Greenwalt of Edwardsville, Ill. With specialization in counseling psychology, Greenwalt will contribute to providing the highest quality education to students.
“I chose Lindenwood for its student-centric learning and community engagement,” Greenwalt said. “I love teaching classes that blend academic knowledge with real-world experience to help students discern and pursue their calling.”
Greenwalt holds a Bachelor of Arts from Coker College, a Master of Arts from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a PhD from University of Missouri-Kansas City.
James Haran, MSN, CCRN, CNE
Haran joins Lindenwood University as a faculty member specializing in nursing. From Wildwood, Mo., Haran’s experience will prepare future practitioners to thrive in real-world settings.
“Lindenwood is doing great things locally. There is a unique opportunity to be involved with developing a traditional nursing program from the ground up,” Haran said. “My love of teaching started as a nursing preceptor, which eventually led to the path I’m currently on. My favorite topic to teach is psychiatric nursing.”
Haran holds a BSN from University of Missouri St. Louis Magna Cum Laude and earned an MSN from Webster University.
Brent Holtgrewe, MS, LAT, ATC
A local of St. Charles, Holtgrewe joins the University’s athletic training program as a visiting faculty member.
“Teaching, mentoring and developing is at the heart of everything I do. I want to continue impacting the Athletic Training world pouring into and developing the next generation of Athletic Trainers,” Holtgrewe said. “I want to share the love and passion I have for the foundation and help future Athletic Trainers discover their art and passion.”
Holtgrewe holds both a BS and a BA from Central Methodist University and an MS in Applied Exercise Science with emphasis in Human Movement Science from Concordia University Chicago, where he is currently pursuing a PhD.
Zheng Huang, MS
Joining the computer science program at Lindenwood University, Huang’s specialization is human computer interaction, which will enhance the program’s focus on emerging technologies.
“As a professor, I am passionate about not just teaching, but also exchanging ideas with students and guiding them towards their goals. I chose Lindenwood University because I enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of cheering for NCAA DI sports,” Huang said. “Additionally, Lindenwood's commitment to embracing innovation and technology aligns perfectly with my vision of the future of education.”
Huang earned a master’s degree from North Dakota State University.
Elisabeth Ryan, MSN, RN
From Carlinville, Ill., Ryan believes, ‘you don't have to get over it, because you will get through it.’ With an extensive background in pediatrics, women’s health, and home hospice, Ryan joins Lindenwood University and will teach in the nursing program.
“It is my mission to lift up these nursing students in positivity,” Ryan said. “Nursing school is hard, but we are working to build compassionate individuals that genuinely care. The mountains that we climb in life make us unique and build our stories."
Ryan earned a bachelor’s from Illinois State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University.
Tim Sesterhenn, PhD
Joining Lindenwood’s biology program, Sesterhenn brings experience and expertise in ecology to the classrooms and labs at the University.
“I wanted to make a change in my career to be closer to family, and Lindenwood seems like a great fit,” Sesterhenn said. “I really enjoy teaching introductory Biology, particularly evolution, biodiversity, and ecology, and getting the students excited for the rest of the major, which I will get to do here. My new colleagues all seem to enjoy teaching and working with students like I do, so I'm looking forward to working together with everyone. All the natural space on campus makes me feel at home already, and I look forward to getting students outside to learn about their environment.”
Sesterhenn holds a BA in Zoology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a PhD from University of Kentucky.
