Minor in Creative Writing and Tell Your Own Story

A Creative Writing Minor is an excellent addition to any major because the in-depth writing preparation you get in writing workshops will enhance your communication skills. More than 80% of employers are looking for excellent writing skills and they will be impressed with the level of polish and control a Creative Writing minor has with language.

A Creative Writing Minor requires 18 credit hours of study in a wide variety of courses, including poetry, fiction, and non-fiction writing. If you minor in Creative Writing, you will be able to workshop your writing in several courses and learn how to market a piece of writing for publication. There's also the opportunity to work on the student-run Arrow Rock publication. You will be able to take a wide range of courses outside of creative writing as well, such as literature, technical writing, and the teaching of writing.

See a list of English Course Descriptions to read about the variety of courses you might be taking.
