Course Description

Open to longtime readers and writers of science fiction as well as those new to the genre, this Literature/Workshop course focuses on the study and analysis of science fiction published in the last century combined with the creation and critique of students' original science fiction pages (either short stories or excerpts from longer works-in-progress). The course structure alternates between literature reading/discussion weeks and workshop weeks. Weekly journal assignments give students the opportunity to respond to short articles about the craft and innovation of science fiction as a constantly evolving form of literature.
