Course Description

Open to longtime readers and writers of young adult literature as well as those new to the category, this course focuses on reading, analysis, discussion, and hands-on writing practice involving four major genres found within YA—Historical, Sci-Fi, Mystery, and Romance. Discussions and journal assignments allow students to respond to articles and prompts centered on the conventions, tropes, and possibilities inherent in each.
