Dr. Larry Acker
Lawrence (Larry) Acker, Ph.D., is currently a Professor of Health Management at Lindenwood University’s Plaster College of Business and Entrepreneurship. He is also the Department Head for Advertising and Public Relations, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, Healthcare Administration, Health Management, Marketing, and ROTC. Dr. Acker earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Saint Louis University, a Master’s in Health Administration from Washington University, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University Missouri - St. Louis. Dr. Acker started his career in health management, serving as an administrator in hospitals and outpatient facilities. He started teaching as an adjunct instructor in the Management and Business Departments at Webster University in 1984, joining Harris-Stowe State University’s College of Business as full-time faculty and Director of Health Care Administration in 2003.
In 2011, Dr. Acker was recruited by the U.S. Army to serve as a civilian social scientist, stationed with the Marines at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province, providing socio-cultural information to the military in order to help better understand the civilian population.
In 2012, Dr. Acker returned to Missouri and began teaching at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. In 2013, he was appointed Program Director of Health Management in the Business Division of the School of Accelerated Degree Programs, updating the program to reflect current market trends and creating an online program to complement the on-ground classes.
Dr. Andrea Frazier
Andrea P. Frazier is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Health Management. She is a health care professional with over thirty-three years of managed care quality, medical management, and case management experience. She received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s College and her undergraduate business degree from Sterling Presbyterian College. In addition, she obtained her Master’s Degrees and Doctorate from Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri. Dr. Frazier is also a Certified Case Manager, Certified Professional in Utilization Review, a Certified Managed Care Nurse and a Medical Legal Consultant. She was named in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare for the 1997/1998 year and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.
Andrea is actively involved in speaking to both physicians and health care majors about the impact of quality on managed care. She, as well, is the founder and CEO of A Frazier and Associates, LLC, an independent medical management company dedicated to case management, utilization review, and revenue cycle services. Andrea is also an investor and consultant for HealthyMe Mobile Solutions, a St. Louis based health technology company.
As a professor, she teaches Quality Improvement, Healthcare Strategic Management, the Healthcare Capstone, and Health Care Legal Issues. Dr. Frazier is a former instructor for Washington University School of Health Administration and the author of “Physician to Patient Communication Training in U.S. Medical Schools”. She also serves as a board member for the Human Rights Authority for the State of Illinois, a non-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of abuse and neglect, and violations of human rights, which is the investigative arm of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission. As a committee member for Art on the Square in Belleville, Illinois, Andrea also seeks to promote the cultural experience represented through this venue. Art on the Square focuses on the appreciation of art, art education and the importance of art in the creative process in the Metro-East area.
