Sponsored by the Plaster College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Lindenwood's Sport Management degree prepares students for a fast-paced and exciting career in Sport Management. In the Sport Management degree, students are exposed to the core business principles of marketing, management, economics, finance, and accounting and given the opportunity to apply these competencies to the Sport Industry. Dr. Elisabeth Erickson
Elisabeth “Lis” Erickson is an Associate Professor of Sport Management. Before joining Lindenwood in 2022, she spent eight years at McKendree University, where she grew the Sport Management program from 25 students in 2014 to 90 on-campus majors, while also serving as the Associate Chair of the School of Business. An Iowa native, Erickson worked in communications and fundraising in college athletics (Division I and Division III) and Major League Baseball before earning her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
Missouri is the seventh state she's lived in as an adult, and St. Louis is the furthest south she's ever lived. Lis lives in Kirkwood with her husband, Michael, and daughter, Margot.
Dr. Daniel Sweeney
Daniel Sweeney is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Sport Management. He has a passion for helping students to grow and develop professionally and as individuals in their pursuits of a desired successful future. His research has been published in various academic journals, such as the Journal of Promotion Management, the International Journal of Sport Management, and The Sport Journal. He has presented his research both domestically and abroad at various conferences such as the Sport Marketing Association conference, International Sports Management Conference, and European Association for Sport Management conference.
Dr. Sweeney’s professional work experience spans various sectors of the sport industry, including private health and recreation management, game operations, match production, sales and customer service, and broadcasting. His past announcing experience includes stadium announcer for St. Louis FC, FIFA Women’s World Cup, DC United, MLS All-Star Match, US Soccer international friendlies, and NCAA Division I soccer. He resides in St. Peters with his wife Jamie and their two boys, Liam and Jack.
