Safe Zone Trainings

Safe Zone Training
This 2-hour, interactive, virtual training session will help the training participants understand how to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff. Participants will examine LGBTQ+ identities, gender, and sexuality. Training participants will discover campus resources and strategies to apply what they learned to their environment in order to identify and challenge their own bias.

Safe Zone 2.0 Training
This 1-hour, interactive, virtual training session has been designed for people who have completed Safe Zone training. Safe Zone 2.0 will focus on the current issues and laws that are impacting the LGBTQ+ community, examine prejudice and privilege, and give participants an opportunity to complete various scenarios.

Dismantling Racism: Creating A Culture of Equity
This interactive workshop will review current events regarding anti-racism along with the harms of racism in today’s society. Training participants will discover campus resources and anti-racist strategies to apply what they learned to their environment. Resources for workshop delivery are Mentimeter.

disAbility 
This interactive training session will help training participants develop an awareness of how disAbility bias can impact those accessing course materials with ability differences. Training participants will discover classroom resources, software options, and strategies that can be applied to their classroom environment and assist them in identifying their challenges and offer suggestions as to how to overcome their own disAbility bias. Janet Owens and Heather Pennington will be the session facilitators.

disAbility 2.0

Implicit Bias Training
This 2-hour, interactive, virtual training session is designed to define implicit bias, demonstrate common forms of implicit bias and the potential impact on the university community, provide resources on campus, and allow participants to examine their own assumptions and privilege.

Socioeconomic Status (SES) Bias Training
This 1-hour, interactive, virtual training session will help the training participants develop an awareness of how SES bias can impact those around them with different socioeconomic statuses. Training participants will discover campus resources and strategies to apply what they learned to their environment in order to identify and challenge their own socioeconomic status bias.

Spiritual/Religious Bias Training
This 1-hour, interactive, virtual training session will help the training participants develop an awareness of how spiritual/religious bias can impact those around them who practice different spiritualties or religions. Training participants will discover campus resources and strategies to apply what they learned to their environment in order to identify and challenge their own spiritual/religious bias.
