30 31 FALL 2023 EDITION THE LINDENWOOD THE LINDENWOOD FALL 2023 EDITION Aligned with the announcement of the new core values, the University developed a recognition program for colleagues to acknowledge one another for demonstrating one of the values. The response has been incredible, and here are just two of the employees recognized for putting students first. Woodrow “Woody” Ellis Department of Public Safety and Security Office Assistant Woody has been a beacon of service, consistency, and professionalism for the past 10-plus years at Lindenwood. The students are at the root of everything Woody does. He’s been known to physically check windows, locks, fire extinguishers, fire escapes, pull stations and blue light courtesy phones, all to provide students with a safe and sound environment to live and study. Sharon Vawser Human Resources Specialist, Payroll and Taxation Sharon works hard to guide and assist student-workers in getting started in their positions. Whether it’s helping them get their direct deposit set up or guiding international employees in completing Sprintax, she goes above and beyond researching issues on their behalf and ensuring they have the information they need. For nearly 200 years, Lindenwood University has sought to invest in the success of our students today, while providing the experiences to prepare them for careers tomorrow. Your gift to the Lindenwood Fund remains the most fundamental way to support Lindenwood students. That’s because a gift to the Lindenwood Fund has the broadest impact on our campus with dollars supporting everything from financial aid, capital initiatives, and program improvements. So, whether it’s helping a first- generation student achieve their dream of a college degree, constructing or renovating state-of-the-art facilities, or ensuring Lindenwood graduates can compete with peers from institutions across the world, your investment in the Lindenwood Fund, regardless of its size, makes a difference. No gift is too small as evidenced in our most recent fiscal year where, collectively, donors to the Lindenwood Fund gave over $2.2 million in support of Lindenwood students. This represented nearly half of all dollars donated to Lindenwood last year. Join in making a lasting impact with a gift to the Lindenwood Fund today! “I am deeply grateful for the generosity of donors to the Lindenwood Fund. Attempting to navigate offices and policies to have their questions answered while adjusting to their new classes can be a frustrating experience for students. To make the transition to Fall 2023 as smooth as possible, Student Experience introduced the Direct Assistance and Solutions Hub (DASH). For the first two weeks of the fall semester, DASH organized representatives from Academic Services, Professional Advising, Residential Life, the Bursar’s Office, Enrollment Management, and Student Financial Services all in one place to assist students with walk-in questions and needs. This incredible example of putting students first ensured that students could get their questions answered and needs addressed in a timely manner and focus on their success at Lindenwood.
