The Traditional BSN Track is designed for Lindenwood students who start as freshmen. There are limited opportunities for transfer students, with priority given to students who completed prerequisites and pre-nursing at Lindenwood. Transfer students are welcome to apply and will be offered a seat if they meet admission requirements and there are unoccupied seats not filled by Lindenwood pre-nursing students.
Pre-Nursing students are eligible to apply to the nursing major (Traditional BSN track) once they have completed or are enrolled to complete the required 57 semester credit hours (SCH) of courses in the recommended course pathway.
Students may be accepted conditionally, pending completion of core requirements, all nursing program pre-requisites, a criminal background and a drug screen clearance.
Applicants must complete the nursing application through the NursingCAS system by the application deadline. Applications are reviewed and decided upon by the Nursing Admission Committee after application period closes. Notification of acceptance will be made by the end of March.

- Admission essay
- Optional letters of recommendation
- Space availability in the Traditional BSN track

To be considered for admission, the following minimum requirements must be met:

Failure to meet eligibility, not submitting required documentation, or unsuccessful completion of a core or pre-requisite course will result in loss of admission with seat given to another qualified applicant. Lindenwood will use a waitlist for those not provided initial acceptance and may be offered a seat in the upcoming program if another accepted student defers their seat or no longer meets qualifications.
Students not admitted to the Traditional BSN track will be advised to an alternate major at the Lindenwood University. Applicants not admitted may reapply by the deadline date for the next term. Applications are not automatically carried forward to the next deadline date. Lindenwood admits students one-time per year, each fall.
Which Track Is For You
Incoming Freshmen/High School Students
The Pre-Nursing Pathway is for first-time-in-college (FTIC) degree seeking students. Students interested in this pathway will apply to Lindenwood University as a Freshman student. Students will select Pre-Nursing/Nursing as their interest when applying.
Students who are admitted into Lindenwood University on the Pre-Nursing Pathway are NOT automatically admitted into the Traditional BSN Track. After completion of general education and core prerequisites, students on the Traditional BSN Track will complete a nursing specific application for admissions into the nursing portion of the program. This is typically during a student’s sophomore year. Students must complete the secondary application by the deadline (early spring for Fall cohort).
Acceptance as a Pre-Nursing student does not guarantee admission as a Nursing major.
The admission standards for nursing program are more rigorous than the general admission criteria for Lindenwood.
Transfer Students (Prerequisites/Pre-nursing not completed)
Students transferring to Lindenwood who have not completed pre-nursing coursework will follow a similar pathway as the Incoming Freshmen student albeit will likely be further along in their education. When applying as a transfer student, select Pre-Nursing/Nursing as interest, and work with admission counselor.
