Lindenwood University requires all undergraduate international students and student athletes to have insurance coverage.
Health insurance (SHIP) is a requirement according to the Affordable Care Act, for that reason the university partnered with Wellfleet to provide insurance coverage that is tailored for the students.
In America we do not have a government ran health care system. The American healthcare system is very complex with rules and regulations changing often. Health care in the US is funded by several private insurance providers, government programs, and some state-run programs. Not all state-run, or government programs meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act and may require a supplemental health insurance component.
People pay out of pocket for health care, such as doctor visits, hospital stays, any required tests, and medications. Which is why health insurance is required to assist in paying those charges. The health insurance will not cover the charges in full, however it will cover a percentage of those charges. Each policy varies according to the type of policy you have.
Wellfleet meets and provides a robust plan to cover the needs of our students and student athletes and the benefits cover a wide range of needs.
