Lions Relief Fund
The Lions Relief Fund is a testament to Lindenwood University's commitment to the well-being and success of our students. We understand that the journey through university can present unexpected challenges, and we are here to support our students every step of the way.
About the Fund
The fund is designed with the safety and success of our students in mind. We recognize that students may encounter a variety of needs during their time at Lindenwood, and this fund is our way of responding to those needs. Our goal is to ensure that students can focus on their academic and co-curricular endeavors without the added stress of unforeseen financial burdens.
Fund Details
- Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students facing emergencies or life situations that are not direct costs of attendance.
- Eligibility: Students must demonstrate academic progress and maintain good conduct standing within the university community. The team will also conduct a holistic review of the student's financial plan to ensure timely payments to the university. Students must be registered for the current or upcoming term to receive funding.
- Award Amount: Awards may vary but will not exceed $1,500.00 per academic year.
- Application Periods: Requests will be considered within two 6-month periods:
- January 1 - June 30
- July 1 - December 31
Exclusions
While the fund is designed to assist students facing emergencies or life situations, there are certain expenses that the fund does not cover. These exclusions help ensure the fund's resources are directed towards the most urgent and impactful needs. The following list includes examples of items and situations that are not eligible for funding, but it is not all-encompassing:

- Tuition and Fees: Direct costs of attendance, such as tuition, fees, and other academic expenses, should be addressed through other financial aid options.
- Non-Essential Purchases: Luxury goods, entertainment expenses, and non-essential electronics are not covered.
- Pre-existing Debts: Financial assistance for debts or loans incurred before enrollment at Lindenwood University is excluded.
- Routine Living Expenses: Regular, ongoing living expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries, unless part of an emergency situation, are not eligible.
- Travel Costs: Non-emergency travel expenses, including vacations or trips unrelated to urgent family matters or academic requirements, are excluded.
- Legal Fees: Costs associated with legal issues, unless directly related to the student's immediate safety or well-being, are not covered.
- Medical Expenses Covered by Insurance: Medical costs already covered by the student's health insurance plan are excluded.
- Non-Emergency Vehicle Repairs: Routine maintenance or non-urgent repairs for personal vehicles are not eligible.
- Extracurricular Activities: Fees or costs associated with non-essential extracurricular activities, clubs, or sports not directly related to academic success or well-being are excluded.
- Non-Emergency Childcare: Regular childcare expenses that are not part of an emergency situation are not covered.
This list is not exhaustive, and the Lions Relief Fund team reserves the right to review and determine the eligibility of each request on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is to ensure that the fund supports students in the most effective and meaningful way possible.
